The sacrament of Baptism unites us with Christ, cleanses us of sin, and makes us members of the Church.
We welcome you to call the parish office to make an appointment with one of the priests to discuss preparation for baptism for you or for your child.
Our pastoral staff will assist parents to prepare for the Baptism of their child, and will pledge to walk beside you in nurturing their faith. Regardless of your relationship with God in the near or distant past, the birth of your child moves the heart of God to give him or her the opportunity to personally know Jesus Christ and the faith He has given the Church.
For children from infant to 6 years-of-age, Baptisms are normally held twice every month - in English on the first Saturday and in Spanish on the second Saturday. This can change because of holidays or special events, so please check with the parish office.
For children 7 years-of-age or older, church law requires faith formation as part of a religious education program which will ultimately result in their receiving all three sacraments of initiation (Baptism, Confirmation and Holy Eucharist) at one time. The priest will explain more about this when you come for your appointment.
For adults who are interested in becoming a member of our parish community and of the Catholic Church, we have a ministry in our parish called Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults (RCIA). Our RCIA team consists of a group of dedicated parishioners who journey with the candidates and catechumens through a process of reflection, prayer, instruction, discernment, and formation. Those who enter the process are expected to begin attending Sunday Mass, attend a weekly RCIA session, and to become increasingly more involved in the activities of their local parish. There is no set timetable and those who join the process are encouraged to go at their own pace and take as much time as they need. However, on average the process takes between eight to twelve months, but it can take up to two years or more. The program culminates with the participant receiving the sacraments of initiation (Baptism, Confirmation and Holy Eucharist), usually at the Easter Vigil. As all Catholics should, the newly baptized continue their faith formation throughout the rest of their lives.
